Today in 1989: After giving themselves a thirty four thousand dollar raise, the U.S. House of Representatives announces the result of its annual Christmas charity drive.
The four hundred and thirty five representatives and their eleven thousand employees have raised a grand one thousand, seven hundred dollars for the needy.
