Today in 1989: After giving themselves a thirty four thousand dollar raise, the U.S. House of Representatives announces the result of its annual Christmas charity drive.

The four hundred and thirty five representatives and their eleven thousand employees have raised a grand one thousand, seven hundred dollars for the needy.

Tomorrow is a Holiday Thank You Card Workshop. The gifts are unwrapped, the festivities are winding down, and it’s the perfect time to teach kids about the importance of gratitude. In this workshop, kids are encouraged to use their written and artistic skills to create handmade, hand-written thank you notes from the heart. Street Pulse seeks innovative ways to alleviate and raise awareness of homelessness and poverty. They are looking for volunteers to write, interview, edit and fundraise.
