Today in 1996: Three Ploughshares activists – Lotta Kronlid, Andrea Needham and Joanna Wilson, cause millions in damage and are arrested in Warton, Lancashire, England, for disarming a British Aerospace F-16 fighter jet destined to be sold to Indonesia for use in its illegal occupation and genocide of the people of East Timor.
Angie Zelter was arrested later for saying she planned to finish what the other three had started. The four were later acquitted of all charges on the grounds of preventing a greater crime.
