Thursday, 5 July 2012 | buzz

Thursday, July 5 our host Tony Castaneda, interviewed Panmela Castro, a graffiti artist who uses the streets of Rio de Janeiro as her canvas to display strong and empowered women breaking free of violence. An activist and an artist, focusing primarily on gender equality, Panmela uses her art to challenge patriarchal notions of public space as related to sexism and sexual orientation. Panmela has brought many projects supporting women rights to fruition. She also did a mural at the Willy street Co-op.
