WYOU Kickstarter

Screen Shot 2013-03-15 at 11.44.46 AM   WYOU has been operating for the last two years without the majority of their funding. Funding that used to keep the local television station running with a full time staff. Now the station is maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers. However even with the large number of volunteers the stations equipment is outdated and the station is need up an update. Check out their Kickstarter project which is an attempt to get the station current.

Duffy and Castaneda discuss Duffy’s new book, “I Can’t Recall: A Year in Wisconsin Politics.”   The book is the story of the Wisconsin Uprising and the unbelievable public response to Scott Walker’s attack on collective bargaining rights.   “If you read just one anti-Walker book, “ Said Castaneda at the beginning of the interview, “read this one.”

Mining in El Salvador

She produced this segment on the ongoing issue of mining in that region. Bell was editor of the Clarion newspaper at MATC and has worked on WORT’s Third World View program. She moved to El Salvador earlier this year.

She joined us by phone to talk about the recent dangers effecting Lake Waubesa, on Wednesday, March 13, 2013.   Hasbrouck is also the director of Fitchburg Fields, a Nonprofit that promotes sustainability and healthy living. She was, however, strictly speaking on behalf on the Waubesa Preservation Coalition today.
