On April 1st, 2013, Mario Koran, from the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, talked to WORT about how the state’s GPS tracking of offenders is falling short. After being released from prison many former inmates on parole wear a Global Positioning System (GPS) ankle monitor. A tracking device, which for some, will be around their ankle for the rest of their lives. In Koran’s investigation he finds that many GPS devices are continuously malfunctioning and notifying authorities that the former inmates are in violation of their parole.
