This APA, on Friday March 24th, we hosted guest Martin Duberman, one of the LGBT community’s most respected historians. The Pulitzer Prize winning author came on with John Quinlan to discuss his new book “Hold Tight Gently: Michael Callen, Essex Hemphill and the Battlefield of AIDS”.

Along with discussing his book, the two delve further into a discussion on the communities affected by the HIV epidemic, particularly the gay male community, and the perceptions surrounding the epidemic.

In addition to the interview, John weaved in musical and poetic excerpts, a couple quoted in Duberman’s book, two of these being the song “Love Don’t Need A Reason” and starting of the show, an initial selection by Michael Callen with The Flirtations.
