City Year Milwaukee stormed Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday, February 8, 2013. They came dressed in full uniform: red jackets, khaki pants, white collared shirts and Timberland boots. In other words, they were hard to miss as they flooded the UWMadison campus and Capitol.
Jason Holton, Executive Director with City Year Milwaukee, spoke with our host, Brian Standing, on February, 11, 2013, to talk about the City Year model and what it means to be a corps member.
City Year is a Non-Profit organization with an education focus. It is an Americorps affiliated program, each site having some 20 to 250 corps members. The corps members, ages 17 to 24, dedicate a year of their lives to community service working in schools doing math and english tutoring as well as after school programing.
