Joining Aaron Perry on the Tuesday 8 O’Clock Buzz on May 21, 2013, was Reverend Edward Pinkney, Founder of Black Autonomy Network Community Outreach (BANCO).

 
BANCO is a political and social justice coalition founded in 2003 in protest of the death of a 28 year old African American male who was killed by the police. Since then the organization rallies against injustices against African Americans.

Joining host of the Tuesday 8 O’CLock Buzz, Aaron Perry, In Studio was Diane Schwartz. Schwartz is the Executive Director of Get Kids Outside. GKO is an organization founded by Schwartz that does exactly what it says, getting kids outside. Listen to the interview to learn more.

    Update: I have now watched Star Trek Enterprise and I do not think it is a lame prequel. After months of badgering, I was finally convinced by a fellow Star Trek enthusiast to watch an episode. I liked it. I guess I just thought it was going to be lame because of Quantum Leap? Which, I admit, I have also never seen.
   I also watched Into Darkness this weekend. I liked that movie as well. Basically, put something in space and I will enjoy it. Except of course Prometheus which I highly anticipated and then felt great disappointment.

This weeks rant takes the stage at the Wisconsin State Capitol where our host, Brian Standing, recites Shakespeare in the state capitol without the required permit necessary to do so. As of now, he has not been contacted by the capitol police…. but then again, it’s only Monday.

Ali Dwyer of We Are All Mechanics Joined host, Jonathan Zarov, on Friday, May 17, 2013, on the 8 O’Clock Buzz.

We Are All Mechanics (WAAM) began in 2003 as the joint vision of Ali Dwyer and India Viola. We set out to share our love of bicycles and technical knowledge with other women in our community.

Our Basic Bicycle Maintenance Course consists of four ninety-minute class sessions and covers basic routine maintenance. Topics range from how to fix a flat tire, to brake and derailleur cable adjustments, chain cleaning, and quick-release front and rear wheel removal. The classes take place within the repair area of a bicycle shop, and provide an insider’s look at the mechanic’s work area. Our classes are kept small, with a low student-to-teacher ratio and emphasize a hands-on approach to learning. Students get a chance to ask questions about their bicycles in a relaxed and fun learning environment.

After completing our classes, students report feeling greater independence when riding their bicycles as well as a sense of empowerment when approaching bicycle repairs at home or in the shop.

The kind that washes away and on a public sidewalk. Parents, tell your children to be careful of which sidewalk they choose to chalk on. The seemingly harmless animal your child loves to draw could conjure up a day in court and a hefty fine. The Madison Capitol Police are cracking down on chalk holders. Caught with powdery hands!

Jason Huberty went to a jury trial and was found guilty of Unlawful Display. The rascal was affixing a sign to concrete, which is not allowed “without express permission from the Dept of Admin.” A clear violation of Adm 2.07 Exterior and interior displays and decorations.

Charged 50 bucks for the crime of chalking, what is most troubling about this is one, the Capitol Police must have nothing to do with themselves but bully peaceful protestors, and two, Huberty was on a public sidewalk exercising his right of freedom of expression.

But, as Huberty says the Attorney General said in regards to the Capitol Police, “They are good soldiers in the kings army, they are just doing their jobs, this is what they would normally be doing.”

So now Scott Walker is King and the Capitol Police are his army. This bodes well….
