In the name of statewide uniformity, Wisconsin Republicans are pushing to limit the hours municipal election clerks can accommodate in-person absentee voting. The new restrictions beef up legislation passed in 2011, that halved the number of days early voting could take place and prohibited casting a ballot three days prior to an election. Now, GOP lawmakers are seeking to end early voting during evening hours and on weekends.
